Tinga Tinga

Some of you may recall our little trip to Africa earlier this year. On the last day of our stay in Dar Es Salaam we went to an art cooperative that taught painters to do their craft in the Tinga Tinga style, made famous by Eduardo S. Tingatinga back in the 60's. We bought about a dozen pieces at the co-op and have given some away as gifts since we have been back. We kept six for ourselves and last week we finally got them framed. We are not sure where they are going to go in our house, but we have plenty empty walls to figure it out.

Nugget

Check this out. There are some of you that will find this to be very interesting - Meredith, Natalie, Johnny.

Christmas in August

Santa came a little early this year. Lisa has had the same ski boots for the last 15 years. Let's put this into some perspective. Here is a snippet of what was happening in the World 15 years ago:

1. Bill Clinton was in his first year in office
2. All of my sisters (except baby Monica) were still in high school - and Lisa too
3. Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet
4. Gas was like a buck a gallon
5. Whoppers at Burger King were under a buck
6. Soundgarden was still a band
7. New Kids on the Block were still a "band"
8. I was freezing my can off up in Rexburg
9. I was eating meat

She was definitely ready for some new boots.

So on Saturday we went down to the local ski and snowboard shop here in Orlando - Peter Glenn's. By the way, the place was practically empty. Afterall, it is August and we are in Orlando. But, this is the best time to get the deals.

Merry Christmas!
